The city of Zlin used to belong to world leaders in the field of industrial design and innovative technologies. It cannot be overlooked how great in their field were for example prof. Zdenek Kovar or prof. Vincenc Makovsky. The designs of designers from Zlin have received many prestigious national and international awards.
We are aware of this legacy of our past and tradition. We also recognize the important role of high quality and creative design nowadays.We want to follow the ideology of the experts from the past when supporting designers of the future, young Design Talents.
For this purpose, JUDr. Martin Ruzicka’s Foundation in cooperation with students of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of Tomas Bata University in Zlin announces this international award of student design Design Talent 2013.

Announcement of the competition
Design Talent 2013 was announced on the 21. 10. 2013.
It is possible to submit works until 15. 12. 2013
The jury meeting
The jury will meet to evaluate all the submitted designs during March 2014.
Announcement of results
Results will be announced at a gala evening associated with an opening of the exhibition of competition entries on Friday, 2.5.2014.
GALA DESIGN TALENT 2011
You can compete in five categories
Design of products, glass, porcelain, ceramics etc.
Design of machines and equipment, tools, transport design etc.
Design of clothing, textile production, footwear and haberdashery, jewelry etc.
Architecture and interior
Architectural design, interior design, spatial production design, furniture design etc.
Design of graphics and illustration, new media, visual communication and intermedia etc.
The jury will award the author / authors of the best evaluated competitive design with the title “Design Talent 2013”. The financial reward of 50 000 CZK (2 000 €) is also a part of this award.
1st place in an individual category
The author of the winning design in each contest category will receive a financial reward of 10 000 CZK (370 €).
2nd place in an individual category
The author of a competitive design that will obtain the second place in an individual category will receive a financial reward of 5 000 CZK (185 €).
3rd place in an individual category
The author of a competitive design that will obtain the second place in an individual category will receive attractive material prizes.
Conditions of the competition
The competition is opened for natural persons, university students, individuals as well as teams. There is no fee for participating in the competition.Each participant can send more designs to the competition.
Age of competing designs
The competition is only opened to competitive designs created after 1. 1. 2010. Deadline for submitting designs electronically, by mail or in person is determined on the 15. 12. 2013.

C) In person on any working day between 8:00 to 15:00 at the office of the organizer
The general requirements of the competitive design
Every competitive proposal consists of two parts: application and attachments. Competitive proposals that do not meet all the parts according to the description (see pdf) will be excluded from the competition.
Each participant has to fill in an electronic application form to enter the competition, that is available on this site.
Mandatory evaluation criteria
- creativity of the author and originality of the design
- an innovative and original approach to the solution
- realization with regard to the materials used, functionality and ergonomics
- complex quality of the design including realization
- environmental aspects of the proposed solution, support for permanently sustainable development
